Maikel Garcia wreaked havoc on the Rangers as he had a three hit game including a home run with four RBIs. He outscored the Rangers all by himself. This a way of saying that it was not a good game for the Rangers.
Patrick Corbin got the start for the Rangers and he was great if you don’t include the third inning. The Royals were able to put up a four spot on him thanks to a Jonathan India RBI single and a three run home run from Maikel Garcia. Despite this Corbin was solid as he allowed four runs in five innings.
Corbin did allow hard contact and didn’t have his best command as he had to battled from behind at points in this game which led to the game. However, he pitched well enough for the Rangers to win the game.
The Rangers struck first as Sam Haggerty got the game started with a leadoff triple and came home on a double by Wyatt Langford. Both of them had three hit games with three extra base hits between them. The Rangers would double their lead as Adolis Garcia would come up with a RBI single with two outs.
You would think that with Haggerty and Langford getting on base for the guys behind him then the Rangers would have won. Seager and Semien had games to forget as they went 1-9 with five strikeouts. Seager hasn’t looked like himself since returning from the injured list as he went 0-5 with three strikeouts. The injury could still be lingering and limiting him or he could be dealing with something else. Either way the Rangers need Seager to snap out of it.
Semien has been the engine for this team during the winning streak and they need him to keep doing that. The Rangers outhit the Royals 12-7, however they couldn’t find a way to bring those guys in. The Rangers left nine guys on base while the Royals left five.
The turning point in the game was in the bottom of the seventh inning the Rangers trailed 3-4 when Adolis Garcia stepped up with runners on the corners down by a run with one out. He hit the ball 105 miles per hour except he hit it right to Bobby Witt and he fielded the grounder and turned two. That was the best chance that they had as the game would unravel from there.
Hoby Milner would come in for the eighth inning and would quickly give up a run. He walked Bobby Witt to start the inning who stole second. Maikel Garcia continued to hurt the Rangers with a triple that hugged the first base foul line. Adolis Garcia had trouble fielding the ball, which allowed Maikel Garcia to take third.
John Rave put down a suicide squeeze to get Garcia home and that would be the final run of the game as the Rangers lost 6-3.
Jacob deGrom will take the mound for the Rangers tomorrow as they try to avoid the sweep. Michael Wacha will take the ball for the Royals, the game will be at 1:35 pm central time.
