The Rangers’ offense leads them to rout of Angels

A Diamond in the Rough

When the Rangers first signed Pat Corbin it was due to the injuries due to pitchers and he would only be around until they got back. Unexpectedly, Corbin has carved out a role in the rotation. He has solidified his role as a reliable back-end starter, delivering quality performances throughout the season.

In the finale, he did it again. He gave the team five innings of two run ball on seven hits while walking two hitters and striking out six. He nearly got through the day unscathed, but Taylor Ward tagged himself for a two run shot in the fifth inning. He also got some help from Adolis Garcia when he gunned down Zach Neto when he tried to score on a Jo Adell single in the first inning.

Corbin has been great and given the Rangers good innings all year. The team would definitely be in a worse spot without him. The Rangers have also helped him out as he has posted his best ERA since 2019. He has gone from an after thought to someone who has a hold on his spot in the rotation.

The Offense has woken up

This offense finally seems like they have found their footing. Of course Corey Seager and Marcus Semien are leading the way.

Seager has been red hot in July with a .394/.512/.788 (1.300 OPS). He went 2 for 3 with a walk and two RBIs to extend his on base streak to 15 games.Semien has been hot too as he hit .324 in June which brought his average from .193 to .239. He went 4 for 5 and scored three runs in the final game.

Wyatt Langford hit .454 with one home run, five RBIs, two stolen bases, and three walks over the last three games of the series. He has hit .225 over his past 30 games, if this is a sign of things to come then it would be a big boost for the lineup.

An Upcoming Test

Up next the Rangers will face the division leading Houston Astros. This represents a big series cause it’s the Astros and if they want to contend for the division or want to keep pace in the wild card.

The Rangers will face Lance McCullers, Framber Valdez, and Hunter Brown. They will counter with Jack Leiter, Jacob deGrom, and Nathan Eovaldi.

These pitchers will represent a challenge for the Rangers and the bats will need to show that the series against the Angels wasn’t a fluke and that the bats are for real.

Let’s hope that the Rangers can take 2 out of 3 from the Astros or sweep them.
